2006 brings some interesting changes from 2005, even more exciting is the introduction of the 505 horsepower Z06. The new 2006 C6 has a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift on the steering wheel. XM Satellite Radio is included with the Bose stereo and two new exterior colors were introduced. Velocity Yellow Tintcoat and Monterey Red Metallic Tintcoat. The Titanium Gray interior is new for 2006 as well as the Storm Gray convertible top color. The new Z06 has the new LS7 427-cubic-inch small block V-8. The same displacement as the old big-blocks in a small-block format. 505 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft of torque. A racing inspired dry-sump engine oiling system with titanium connecting rods and intake valves and a 7000 RPM redline. The front cradle in the Z06 is made from magnesium and the front fenders and wheelhouses are carbon fiber. The roof of the new Z06 is fixed for more rigidity and aerodynamics. Huge 14-inch front disc brakes with six-piston calipers and 13.4-inch rear disc brakes with 4 piston calipers are standard. The engines are hand-built at GM's new Performance Build Center.
