Batman: Arkham Asylum currently holds the Guinness World Record as the most critically acclaimed action adventure Superhero Game ever. Based on the DC Comics Batman graphic novels, Arkham Asylum was released in 2009 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Using Batman’s signature arsenal of gadgets and stealthy combat skills, the object is to defeat The Joker, who is launching a malevolent plot on Gotham City while imprisoned in the infamous asylum. Many Batman Villains including the Riddler, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, the Scarecrow and others were locked up in the Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane, located just outside of Gotham. The Asylum is named for Elizabeth Arkham, the mother of Amadeus Arkham. After seeing his mother suffer from severe mental illness that eventually led to her suicide, Amadeus wanted to help other mentally ill people and decided to remodel his family’s home into a psychiatric facility. The architect hired to do the job went mad, murdering his own workers with an axe.

Arkham’s dark history and eerie appearance makes it the perfect setting for the latest installment of the ongoing Batman saga.
